The Haberdashery Ensemble is a genre-defying acoustic ensemble based in Los Angeles and known for their evocative (but energetic!) performances. Featuring Gee Rabe on accordion, Paul Cartwright on violin, and Brandon Turner on double bass, their influences include Astor Piazzolla, Tom Waits, Kronos Quartet and the Tin Hat Trio. Follow their international sound, like "an indie film soundtrack unfolding before you," and fly away on lush harmonies and intricate rhythms!

Gee Rabe, a native of the Los Angeles, has been an accordionist since 1975. Gee has won major awards for her performance, including the Accordion Federation of North America's virtuoso classical and virtuoso jazz competitions in 1984 and 1985 respectively. Gee’s diverse musical interests lead her to perform in a variety of settings ranging from rock to tango. Gee freelances with many Los Angeles groups including regular performances with Vaud and the Villains a folk, blues and zydeco band. As a session player Gee has recorded for numerous film and television projects, most recently her accordion can be heard on the CBS soap opera Young and the Restless. In addition to accordion, Gee is also an accomplished steel pan player. Gee Rabe has been a lecturer at CSU Northridge since 1995, starting their steel band program, which is one of the largest steel band programs on the west coast.
Violinist Paul Cartwright was born and raised in Bakersfield, California and grew up in a musical family. His parents, both musicians, owned a music store where Paul spent his childhood days. He began studying classical violin at the age of 7, but several years later a performance by Stéphane Grappelli which Paul attended with his parents opened up his mind to the possibilities of improvising and playing other styles of music on his instrument. Paul studied jazz and classical violin performance at CSU Bakersfield and CSU Northridge under the tutelage of Dr. Doug Davis, Gary Pratt, David Aks, Mary Kim, and Arnold Belnik. Paul has since led a diverse career, performing and recording with a spectrum of artists as well on numerous tv, film and video soundtracks, including Battlestar Galactica, Big Love, Trauma, and Mad Men. Paul currently resides in Los Angeles, and is a member of several local progressive string groups, including the Los Angeles String Collective, the Quartetto Fantastico, Elevation Orchestra, and DaKah Hip Hop Orchestra.
